Renewable energy installation continues to power ahead. Provisional global installation figures for 2012 for wind and solar (likely to be revised upwards) showed wind capacity grew almost 20% last year to reach 282GWp capacity. Solar PV capacity increased to 100GWp from 71GWp in 2011 and 40GWp in 2010. Solar power is slowly overtaking wind in capacity terms. There is much to be gloomy about as we start 2013, but this increase in renewables is surely good news.<\/p>\n
