{"id":3675,"date":"2014-02-14T14:49:38","date_gmt":"2014-02-14T13:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theoillamp.co.uk\/?p=3675"},"modified":"2014-02-14T14:49:38","modified_gmt":"2014-02-14T13:49:38","slug":"one-thing-we-have-learnt-this-week-love-our-planet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theoillamp.co.uk\/?p=3675","title":{"rendered":"One thing we have learnt this week- love our planet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This Valentines day maybe we should learn to love our planet more.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theoillamp.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/heart.jpg.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3677\" alt=\"heart.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theoillamp.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/heart.jpg.png\" width=\"201\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 The ex environment secretary Caroline Spelman warned this week as the floods worsened we have lost sight of the need to tackle <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2014\/feb\/11\/floods-reminder-climate-sceptics-caroline-spelman\" target=\"_blank\">climate change<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She said \u201c<em>This flooding is a sharp reminder that everyone, sceptic or not, has to think about the risk of flooding, whatever they think causes it,\u201d she said. \u201cWe need to adapt. What is happening now relates to what we were doing two decades ago [in increasing greenhouse gas emissions]<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reactions to the links between the flooding and storms here and climate change have fallen into two camps.\u00a0 The Met office&#8217;s chief Scientist has directly linked them to climate change.\u00a0 Many right wing politicians still seem to be in denial, stating its just natural variation.\u00a0 Of course now the denial may have another element.\u00a0 That is if these storms are caused by climate change then at only 0.8 degrees C we are going to be in for a lot more of this type of weather.\u00a0 Not something most politicians want to talk about.<\/p>\n<p>Nor most Christians apparently.\u00a0 There is an interview with Andy here explaining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theoillamp.co.uk\/?p=1571\" target=\"_blank\">why<\/a>.
