\"walled<\/a>Nature is good for environmental awareness.\u00a0 That’s the conclusion from an academic study published today.\u00a0 In one sense tell me something I wasn’t expecting.\u00a0 The study suggests that access to any greenery makes people live differently.<\/p>\n

Its certainly true in my own life.\u00a0 I’d been interested and concerned with the environment before I had a garden but become much more interested afterwards.\u00a0 The reason being you notice stuff.\u00a0 I noticed a dramatic increase in Autumn particularly in the late 90’s.\u00a0 Instead of the leaves on the trees being gone by the end of September they were still there in October and November.\u00a0 Then when I started growing things I noticed the weird weather, particularly springs – which are now very cold or hot or wet.\u00a0 More recently I’ve seen a dramatic drop in bird numbers over the last few years.\u00a0 Extinction rebellion have a very apt name.<\/p>\n

Would I have noticed this if I’d carried on living in a flat?\u00a0 Maybe, but to the same extent?\u00a0 I’m not sure.\u00a0 The government make this harder.\u00a0 Gardens can be built on, parks are subject to cuts which at the very least makes them less pleasant to visit and now in England making it more difficult to roam on land.\u00a0 Yes, nature is good for environmental awareness.\u00a0 But lots of things seem to be working against it.<\/p>\n
